My Life Story (So Far…)
I was born in Tuscaloosa Alabama in 1995. My family moved to the Trussville AL area when I was in 3rd grade when my dad got a job in Birmingham. My love and passion for photography and videography really started in high school when I had to record and edit a video for a class project. I loved it so much, that I went on to continue creating videos with friends throughout the rest of high school and the beginning of college. We filmed videos and podcasts and I even had a stint for a few years where I tried live-streaming on Twitch.com.
After graduating high school in 2014 I quickly followed some of my friends and moved back to Tuscaloosa for college. I started my collegiate career at Shelton State. I loved my time here but being totally self-sufficient with no financial help from my family was very difficult at times. I worked 3 jobs at some point while living in Tuscaloosa and trying to take classes. I lived here for a few years just taking my basic classes while working Photography, Retail, and Restaurant jobs to pay bills. I had to take a few years off here and there in order to save up again for classes. In 2020 when Covid-19 hit I decided it was in my best interest to move back home with my family in Birmingham.
Since moving back here to Birmingham I have enrolled here at the Collat School of Business at UAB and I have been able to focus so much more on my classes now that I’m not having to work so hard to just pay rent and survive. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA my first year at UAB and I’m currently in my 3rd semester I couldn’t love it any more than I already do. The amazing faculty here really goes above and beyond to make sure students are aware and ready for any job opportunities that will become available.
I may be a little bit older than some of my classmates but I like to think of it as my age makes me a little more mature and more excited to get a full-time career after school. I’ve had my struggles in my early 20’s in Tuscaloosa and because of that, I’m now more driven and passionate to work as hard as possible here at UAB and find a great company to work with after graduation. I feel so optimistic about the future and I know that with the talents and skills that I’ve already acquired as well as the things I learn in class every day, I will be able to find the right job and position to excel in!
